Ever gone shopping for monkey skulls? A jar of toenail clippings? Maybe a straitjacket?
Well, we haven’t either, but luckily there’s a store in New York City that caters to people who are interested in that kind of thing.
Obscura Antiques & Oddities on Manhattan’s Lower East Side specializes in “medical artifacts,” or rare, one-of-a-kind, spooky and even downright gross items that come from flea markets, auctions, antique shows, other collectors — anywhere and everywhere. Science Channel's breakout series, ODDITIES, dives into the weird world of strange and extraordinary science artifacts through the eyes of the proprietors, Mike and Evan, as well as an assortment of hilariously-unique patrons who are even more outlandish than the merchandise.
Now filming its fourth season, ODDITIES’ huge popularity has launched a West Coast version of the show, ODDITIES: SAN FRANCISCO, set in Loved to Death, an unusual antique store which has been open for three years in the heart of the Haight-Ashbury District. Owner Audra and her quirky staff, sell their medical oddities, unique taxidermies and more to clients ranging from street performers to intrigued tourists.
Available for publishing and social expression products, games and puzzles, trading cards, collectibles, apparel, jewelry, etc.
Target: Kids 9 - 14 / Adults 18 - 54
